Best suited for most beginning students under age 10. The focused format supports developing attention spans while allowing time for foundational technique, reading, listening, and guided practice.
A strong fit for many teenage and intermediate students. The additional time supports more substantial repertoire, technique, musicianship, interpretation, and detailed feedback without feeling rushed.
Well suited to advanced teenagers, serious students, and adults. Longer lessons allow deeper work on technique, musical understanding, multiple pieces, interpretation, and independent artistry.
Final lesson-length recommendations are individualized. Age is one consideration; readiness, goals, and learning needs matter too.
WHY PRIVATE LESSONS
One-on-one teaching gives every lesson a clear purpose and allows instruction to change as the student changes.
Repertoire, explanations, pacing, practice strategies, and technical work can be selected for one student rather than averaged across a group.
Small issues in posture, coordination, rhythm, fingering, bowing, tone, or interpretation can be addressed before they become habits.
The entire lesson is devoted to the student’s playing, questions, progress, and next steps—without waiting for other students.
Concepts can be slowed down, reframed, revisited, or advanced according to understanding rather than a fixed class schedule.
A consistent teacher-student relationship creates a supportive place to take musical risks, ask questions, and develop an individual voice.
Technique, listening, reading, understanding, expression, and independence can be developed together through the TOTAL MUSICIAN METHOD™.
Piano lessons build a broad musical foundation through coordinated movement, reading in two clefs, harmony, rhythm, listening, and expressive playing. Instruction is adapted for beginners through advanced students and can support both a student’s first musical experience and more serious long-term study.
Violin lessons develop posture, bow control, left-hand coordination, intonation, tone, rhythm, reading, and musical expression. Students learn to listen closely and connect physical technique with the sound and character they intend to create.
Viola lessons honor the instrument’s warm, rich voice while building secure technique and musical independence. Students develop comfortable setup, bowing, intonation, rhythm, alto-clef reading, tone production, and thoughtful interpretation.
